Wildmoos hiking circuit
Hiking route descriptionDear hiker … once you’ve used the time stamp to register at the entrance to the spa centre, this route runs behind the Hotel Schneeweiß up in the direction of Triendlsäge. See signposts. You will walk through the Kesselwald forest to the Triendlsäge inn. From there, turn left into the paved road in the direction of Seefeld. After about 1.5 km, you will pass the Raabach Hof and Birkenlift inn.Continue on the path alongside the road until reaching the stables. Here, cross the street and, on the right, go along the road until reaching the Wildmoos mountain pasture. Leave the Wildmoos mountain pasture behind on your left, and continue in the direction of the Wildmoos holiday home. After around 1 km, you will reach a fork in the road: go to the right down the mountain. After about 300 m, you will reach the Wildmoos holiday home inn, where the first checkpoint is located. (Stamp by the inn, self-check if closed). If you’re lucky, you’ll see a lake opposite. This is the periodic Wildmoos lake, which appears at irregular yearly intervals and then disappears again. Continue along the hiking trail until reaching the hunting cabin. After walking for a while, you’ll reach a concrete building: walk to the right past this building; the path will rise slightly. After around 400 m, leave the wide path and turn to the left. Now, follow the signposts indicating “Mösern”. After following a somewhat downhill route, you will reach a meadow and golf course: cross these to the left. After around 30 m, turn right and take the narrow sunken path until reaching a fork. Continue in the direction of the Lottenseehütte; after a short while you will pass the Wildmoos 1 House. After continuing down the steep downhill path, you will reach the junction with the paved access road to the golf course. Look to the left and you will see a large signpost marked: Lottenseehütte. The second checkpoint is here. (Stamp by the inn, self-check if closed; the inn is closed on Wednesdays). Here, too, there is a periodic lake. When dry, the lake bed is used as a summer campsite by campers and tent fans. After a refreshment break, continue back along the paved road in the direction of Mösern. After around 400 m, leave the road and take a left into the forest – but not before you’ve gazed to the right over the glorious expanse of the Inn Valley. Now walk through the Pirschsteig until you reach the “Möserer See” signpost (looking towards Menthof). After climbing for a few metres you’ll reach a clearing: take a left up towards the forest path. After around 800 m, the narrow path through the spruce forest ends at a flight of wooden steps which rises to the left. Follow these steps until reaching a parallel forest path. Now take the path and continue right. After around 80 m, you will reach a path at right angles with a signpost. Follow the signpost marked “Wirtshaus am See”. At the same time, you will see Tyrol’s warmest swimming lake – the Möserer See with its small island. You’ll come across the Möserer See Stub'n, location of the 3rd checkpoint. (Stamp by the inn, self-check if closed). The terrace parapet provides a glorious view of the lake. Now proceed behind the Möserer Seestube, taking Hiking Trail No. 60 to the Tellertal valley until you reach an intersection where the path forks into Hiking Trails 61 and 60. From there, continue taking Hiking Trail No. 60 to the Katzental valley. Below the Brunschkops, remain on Trail 60 until reaching the Köhler Bödele, where you will find the Hörmannsweg (No. 2). Now continue downhill towards Seefeld. You will first reach the Kirchwaldsiedlung, and then the pedestrian zone. Take the Münchner Straβe until you reach the pharmacy. Then cross the street and turn to the left, past the Geigenbühel and the Almhof. After the bridge, keep to the right. Pass the Birkenstüberl on the Kurhotel promenade, continuing to the spa centre. After this enjoyable but tiring hike, you may find that a pizza in the Noodle Boutique (see voucher in the hiking guide) hits the spot. | ![]()
